The Black Hole Cape Cod Special is a series of fishing rods developed for demanding offshore fishing, where strength, sensitivity, and low weight are essential. The rods are especially popular for jigging large fish and are widely used by anglers targeting species such as halibut, cod, coalfish (saithe), and other powerful fish in Nordic waters. We have personally landed coalfish exceeding 10 kg, halibut weighing 80 kg, and cod approaching 20 kg on this rod. It is difficult to find another rod with such a light rating that is capable of handling fish of this size.
The blank is constructed from high-modulus carbon and nano-based carbon materials, providing an outstanding combination of low weight and impressive lifting power. Its characteristic parabolic action distributes pressure more evenly throughout the rod during a fight, offering greater control and reducing strain on the angler when a hard-fighting fish makes powerful runs.
Several models in the Cape Cod Special series are equipped with premium Fuji components, including reel seats and guides designed for braided lines and heavy loads. EVA handles provide a secure grip even in wet and cold conditions, making the rods particularly well suited for fishing along the Norwegian coastline throughout much of the year.
The rod is designed for modern offshore fishing techniques where direct contact with the jig and responsiveness in the blank are crucial. At the same time, it has the power reserves required to handle large fish on relatively light tackle.
